Well... I'm white skinned, light blonde, green eyed... but if you go back about 4 generations, you find a woman with Cherokee in her, on one of my dad's sides.
Yes, it would be best if there was less difference between people. If everyone looked the same, ate the same, dressed the same, spoke the same, sang the same, worshipped the same.
Or perhaps not. Maybe it would be better if we tolerated, or better yet, appreciated our differences.
Whats more racist? Hating one race, or hating all races?
I've always wondered what Americans would look like if we had never adopted the racial hierarchy that we did in colonial times. People forget that, in the beginning, the mixing of the races was not nearly as taboo in the US. However, slave masters feared an "unholy union" between their slaves and poorer whites so they worked very hard to implement the racial structure that placed landed whites on top, poor whites in the middle, and black slaves way, way at the bottom.
I imagine if that hadn't taken place the racial categories we place on ourselves would be much looser. We would probably all look like Mariah Carey and Bruno Mars.
I have noticed that in most Latin American countries don't seem to have racial issues like we do in the U.S (correct me if I'm wrong), and it is strange that we are not because of the long history of different people living side by side. I also think it would make things more simple.
The USA actually is mostly mestizo/mulatto mixed race. It's just a matter of how individuals identify themselves or how race is perceived in and among people in the USA. Most U.S. Americans are of mixed ancestry if one looks at their family trees. USA has always been mixed
In the future they'll have to be catered to by republicans if the conservative party has a chance in this country. I'd argue that conservatives can't win presidential elections at this point because of the changing demographics. Mccain and ROmney did very little to cater to them.
