Alright so.. Driving from Florida to Washington State (Seattle) (deal, map)

Leaving Monday night and we're still not sure about the route. The "quickest" route has us go through Atlanta, up through TN, MO, NE, WY, ID, and then to Washington. Knowing what time of year this is, while the map may say it's the fastest, it's not factoring in potential snow or other issues. So.. do we take it and just deal with what may come at us since it's still the lowest amount of miles.. OR..

The other option is to go the south route, along I10, and then cutting up to Shreveport in LA, going west through Dallas to Albuquerque, and from there either going over to CA and up, or up through Salt Lake City, through Idaho and then to WA.

We'd like to get there in as little time as possible, but not by being dumb and trying to push the limit with mountains and snow.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Like I've said before, it's always a crapshoot this time of year. New Mexico (north, south, all of it) has been getting unusual amounts of snow this year, so going through it instead of the Plains, WY, CO, UT, etc might get you into more trouble.

The better winter route is i-10 all the way to LA then cut up i-5. It won't be quicker taking the northern route as you will get snow delays through the mountains. I-10 is a faster drive, even if it is a bit longer. It's another 300 miles but it is smooth sailing.
