I think it would be interesting to hear the stories of other people's experiences with relocating from one place to another, whether it was for better or worse. The grass may not be greener on the other side, but it sometimes is. I'll start with my story.
Back in 2006, I relocated from the Hartford, CT area to New York City to begin my career directly after college. I only lasted for a year and a half. Although I enjoyed the city to the fullest and took advantage of all that it had to offer, I constantly felt like I was poor and lived in a shoebox for $1,470 per month. I barely saw the sun and I became sick and tired of the extreme noise levels and crowding (I lived in Manhattan). After a year of living there, I was eager to leave and go back to suburban living. Don't get me wrong; it's an amazing city and the experience was well worth it, but it's also a stressful place to live and there is nothing relaxed about it at all. So, I eventually quit my job and moved back to the Hartford area and found employment within a few weeks. Here I am, four years later and I don't regret moving back home to CT. Glad I made the move back.
