According to Georgia's Secession Ordinance... I see two names listed being from Dade. (American Civil War :: Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library :: University of Georgia Libraries) You can view them when you zoom in.

The New Georgia Encyclopedia gives an interesting account on the history too. (the vote... not Dade Co.). It claims no one really knows the unofficial results behind closed doors.

Either way there were alot of representatives that voted for and against in Georgia. That was my original point. It wasn't one county... It was many.

New Georgia Encyclopedia: Secession
If you look back in this thread, I had commented on the uniqueness of Dade in response to someone posting something simlar about Winston County in Alabama. Not only voting against secession but voting to seced from their own state. Interesting little tidbits of history and geography.

The Cape and the islands of Massachusetts voted to secede from Massachusetts, but because no state would pick them up, and they couldn't file for statehood due to population issues, it was forced back into MA, which cut their repersentation in the House for the sucession efforts.

Knox, Daviess, Martin, Pike, Dubois counties in Indiana moved back to Eastern Time from Central on Nov 4, 2007.

And, on the other side of Indiana, an article regarding the time plight of College Corner, IN-OH.

It takes less time to drive from Ft. Worth to New Orleans than it does to drive from one end of Texas to the other end.
