The only natural stretch of the Mississippi River between St. Paul and New Orleans which is unnavigatable by barge traffic is a ten-mile section bordering Chouteau Island near Granite City, IL. Here, river traffic is diverted through the man-made Chain of Rocks Canal.

The largest uninhabited island in the United States is Montague Island, Alaska. The island has a land area of 305.36 square miles, which is nearly the same land area as New York City.

There's Cape Disappointment State Park (Washington). It's not disappointing at all. Two scenic lighthouses, beaches, old fort on and around the headlands at the mouth of the Columbia River.

^LOL...those are all good ones!

Some US states have areas which are further north than parts of Canada (Michigan, for example). And some US states have areas which are further south than parts of Mexico (Florida, for example).
The only state that has both areas further north than parts of Canada and areas further south than parts of Mexico? California.

Been there. Matawan, right by the Parkway. You can get views of the Garden State Parkway's traffic from a picnic table area. It's a nice natural park, yet only a few miles from Staten Island, NYC.
