So is Cape May.

During the Winter, you can watch both the Sunrise and Sunset over the Atlantic Ocean on the barrier islands that run East to West in North Carolina.

I did that all the time growing up on the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin - 5-10 minute drive across the county for a good 60-70 miles length-wise to endless-horizon Lake Michigan sunsets or sunrises.

From Winchester, VA to Greencastle, PA, which is about 50 miles via I-81, you hit four states: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Along U.S. 340 just east of Harpers Ferry, WV, you hit three states -- West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland -- in the space of about 1/2 mile.

You can make it from VA to PA in about 21 miles via Route 522. Other than 4 Corners, I'm not sure there's another place you can hit 4 states in such a short distance.

Michigan shares a water border with both Minnesota and Illinois the same way New York shares a water border with Rhode Island, and Ohio and Pennsylvania share a water border with Canada.

How about the shortest distance to hit five states? I would think it would be to start near Clayton, New Mexico and angling up US 56 with a couple of side road detours to hit NM, TX, OK, CO and KS. A straight line would be roughly 75 miles. According to Google Maps, US 56 may or may not touch the extreme NW corner of the Texas panhandle. It misses the extreme SE corner of Colorado by just a few miles, thus the detours.

The Idaho Panhandle is the same. A trip from Seattle to Minneapolis will take about 23 hours of driving. Only one hour of that would be in Idaho. Montana would take nine hours of that time to cross.
