You know what else is odd? That the climate classification between humid continental and humid subtropical almost follows the Mason-Dixon line and the Ohio River.

Yep on Boston 103 as recent as a few years ago

just googled Key West and no days on record over 100 there either

was just curious on others

Cancun Mexico has a lower reported high temperature than any major city in the US Northeast at 102 including Boston

far better record low at 50 - the area has never seen the 40s I think year round ist basically lows around 70 and highs around 85-90

What's that like? Also, has Philly suffered a lot of direct damage from hurricanes?

mostly not bad Sandy pounded North Jersey (starting like 15 miles north of Philly) and NYC to the Northern part of that eye (crossed at AC and then across to Philly) - the most damaging winds and storm serge

Was supposed to be a little south and moved north saving the major damage here and North Jersey and NYC were not so lucky sadly

the Northeasters generally do more damage in the winter then has Hurricanes - think since the sixties anyway

agree on the humidity but NYC and Philly and DC are by no means immune to humidity, personally I think the summers here are more extreme than winters contrary to what many think outside of the area - last summer was extremely mild however

still Miami, Key West, and Cancun having lower historic highs is at least somewhat odd given their locations humidity aside

100+ in Philly is seen nearly every year, albeit not the average but not at all extraordinary, hot though

I think I also read the normal high temp registered in most years for DC, Baltimore, Philly and NYC is higher then the average highest summer temp in Atl actually

soupy to me is Houston and NOLA even moreso then Miami
