This far outshadows the 188-foot drop of Horseshoe Falls, the tallest drop of the more famous Niagara Falls of Ontario, Canada. Niagara Falls is more noted because of the huge volume of water it carries.
Yes, I think it is safe to say that most of the Plains states are mostly flat. I just think people get fustrated when someone comes along and says blah blah blah, that these states are entirely flat. Correct me if I am wrong but I think every state has at least some hills; even like the Flint Hills of Kansas or north central Florida.
I can say I am one that gets frustrated when someone says that. I take pride in the bluffs valleys and hills and cliffs that Minnesota has, albeit not very much.
- There is a gap in the U.S. Interstate system, I-70 at Breezewood, PA.
- The public medical school that serves the states of Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming is the University of Washington in Seattle. It is a 1,237 mile drive (via the fastest route) from Cheyenne to Seattle. Cheyenne is closer to Houston (1,115 miles), Edmonton (1,160), San Francisco (1,171), San Diego, (1,174), Cincinnati (1,192), Nashville (1,192) and Detroit (1,225)
Because of polar great-circle lines, Barrow Alaska is closer to Romania than to Key West Florida.
Oklahoma is nowhere near as flat as you think. The southeastern quarter of Oklahoma is so mountainous, the roads are curvy and steep and follow mountain ridges. Southwesterh Oklahoma has some imposing canyons. For flat land, you need to go to the Gulf Coast plain. It's 1700 miles from Key West to Brownsville, and anywhere within 50 miles of the gulf, you can do the whole trip on a bicycle without ever changing gears, except maybe to go over a bridge.
Right, because the Ozark Mountains in Oklahoma or the Sand Hills in Nebraska or the Flint Hills in Kansas are perfectly, uniformly flat.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, that was a tongue-in-cheek comment. If I were that way too, I would have acted horrified because your original comment implied OK/NB/KS feel more mountainous than VT or PA. The difference between highest and lowest elevation in Great Plains states has nothing to do with the Ozarks etc.

I've ridden my bike to Key West many times and can assure you that you change gears more than just on bridges. Have you ever heard of this little thing called "wind"?

Good point. Furthermore, Niagara is not the tallest waterfall in NY. The tallest is the much less famous Taughannock Falls (near Ithaca).
West St Paul, MN is due South of St Paul. The city neighborhood that abuts this suburb is called the West Side, not to be confused with the city neighborhood called the West End, which is SW of downtown. Immediately south of West St Paul is the city of South St Paul. The reason for all this confusion is the Mississippi River, which flows through the city in a sideways-"S" course. West St Paul and the West Side of St Paul are on the "west" side of the river, which is actually south according to the compass. the West End of St Paul is on the "east" side of the river, but is west, according to the compass. This is similar to the phenomena of Canada being south of Detroit, and Rock Island, IL being south of Davenport, IA.
