1. Colorado, Wyoming and Utah are the only states which have no natural political borders. Their boundaries are defined solely by lines of latitude and longitude.

The capitol of Missouri (Jefferson City) is not served by an interstate.
Reelfoot lake (Near Tiptonville, TN) is one of the only naturally created lakes in the South. It was created by an earthquake (New Madrid earthquake of 1812).
Adding to this, while Missouri has both of it's highest and lowest points in the state in the Southeast part, the neighboring state of Illinois is the opposite. The highest point in Illinois is on the northern border of the state while the lowest point is at Cairo, at the southern tip of the state. They are separated by 477 miles and the drive between the two would take 8 and a half hours.

Also, The northernmost part of WV is further North than DT Manhattan
Also DC is further west of NYC than it is South.
Boston is ~200 miles east of DC, considerably further east than it is North of DC
DC is also 75 miles west of Philadelphia while only about 48 miles South
Also on DC, the closest point of WV to DC is less than 20 miles from the district border
One other thing that I find interesting is that the Philadelphia and the Norfolk MSAs both share the Chesepeake Bay as part of their metro (Along with DC and Baltimore)
