Perhaps even more surprising (to some), Denver is actually closer to Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS than it is to Seattle!

I was surprised that Denver is closer to Indianapolis than it is to Portland. Blows my mind.

Moving from central Missouri to Albuquerque (1000 miles) I stayed in a motel on the road one night and beat the moving truck by about twenty minutes and they made three stops in Texas along the way. They dropped off and picked up loads in Houston and San Antonio and maybe Austin before heading to Albuquerque. Same driver-- but local crews.

Moving trucks depending on gross weight aren't necessarily subject to hours of service. I'm talking semi-tractors

Just like how Columbus (capital of Ohio) is the same latitude as Philly and both about the same latitude as Lebanon, KS the "geographic center" of the country.
