^I'm not sure I understand how that tool is supposed to work.
But, yeah, coming up with an estimate for the Olympic Peninsula is a challenge. For simplicity, I just considered the two counties located completely on the peninsula (Clallam and Jefferson).
It's true that three other counties lie partly on the peninsula and partly off (Gray's Harbor, Mason and Kitsap), of which the latter also occupies most of another peninsula. And it's arguable whether or not Kitsap Peninsula is just part of Olympic Peninsula or a separate one altogether.
^ parts of Thurston too. When you cross either of the bridges from downtown Olympia to the westside, you are crossing onto the Olympic peninsula. Around here, people consider anything north of the Chehalis River from its mouth through Elma and from there a straight line to the I-5/US-101 interchange in Tumwater as the peninsula.

The tool linked above allows you to break things down into smaller geographic areas (voting districts). Pick a state add a congressional district(s), and then highlight the areas you want population figures from. It's meant for political redistricting, but can be used for other demographic uses too.
There are 11 permanently inhabited islands in Washington state that can be reached only by ferry. Michigan has 7 such islands (8 if you count Isle Royale National Park), and Maine has 6.
Actually the Statue of Liberty IS in New York. Liberty Island is owned by New York state but all the water surrounding it is New Jersey.
But is it actually part of the state, or is it just owned by the state? The New Orleans airport is owned by the city, but is in a different jurisdiction.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but Ono Island, Alabama and a strip of the mainland peninsula to the adjacent south has the honor of being located directly SOUTH of the state of Florida in the U.S.

Technically correct. But the statue of Liberty is "inside the boundaries of New Jersey", even though on land that has been successfully claimed by New York.
But nearby Ellis Island, because it was created by reclamation, is in New Jersey. As would be any other nearby islands that might be created by artificial or natural means. But due to the impracticality of determining the location of the state line on Ellis Island, New Jersey and New York have agreed to jointly hold jurisdiction over the island.
