The football field of Memorial Stadium at the University of California, Berkley, sits on two different tectonic plates. Half of it is on the North American Plate, with the other half on the Pacific Plate. The fault separating the two runs under the lengthwise midline of the field.

The Potomac River (in places up to 3 miles wide) separates the states of Maryland and Virginia. Much smuggling of people and supplies occurred across the river during the Civil War when MD and VA were actually in 2 separate countries.

Ever since colonial times, MD has owned ALL of the River up to the actual VA shore, including fishing rights. The town of Colonial Beach VA is now considering adding slot machines in a building there that extend on a pier over MD waters and is therefore subject to MD law, not VA law. Gambling has been tried in Colonial Beach at other times in past decades, depending on whether MD law will allow it. Now they may try it again.

The Ohio river is entirely in Kentucky, and there is a historical reason for that. Kentucky became a state very early on, and was granted jurisdiction of the river, over the unorganized territories that are now Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. When the Cincinnati Reds built their new ballpark right on the river, it was speculated that someday, some player might hit the first home run into another state. Actually, it has been done. Ernie Lombardi hit a home run in the 1930s in Braves Field in Boston, which bounced into a boxcar on the tracks behind the stadium. A brakeman found the ball in Providence, Rhode Island.

The total income of the entire population of Red Bud, Illinois, last year was $68-million dollars. It quadrupled last night, when somebody there won one-third of the Mega Lotto. The average income per household is now $200,000.

Touro, Nova Scotia only borders the bay of Fundy during high tide, during low tide the water levels drop ~55 feet and the water retreats out of the town.

Many U.S. cities were formed around waterfalls. Places such as Minneapolis, Louisville, Rochester, Sioux Falls, and Spokane. Columbia Falls, MT isn't one of them.

Same is true with the Chattahoochee River, which forms roughly half of the border between Georgia and Alabama. GA owns the entire river to the AL Shore

Add Idaho Falls, Idaho. (Although, really, the Falls are NOT that impressive)

Manhattan and Morocco share the same 212 area code.

Some Texans live in Looneyville and Ding Dong; others reside in Happy or Smiley; still others are satisfied with Uncertain.
