North American Metropolitan Areas: Official Corporate Expansions & Headquarters Relocations Thread
This thread is for any and all participants in the United States, Canada, and Mexico to engage in. This thread is sort of similar to the development threads we have on this forum, except it will be for people to update new information regarding corporate expansions and headquarter relocations in their metropolitan areas.
Because they already have their own threads, the Amazon HQ2 and Apple's 4th Campus will not be apart of this thread but any and all other information for other companies are applicable here.
Also, if you decide to participate in this thread, please try to be clear on what you're posting by differentiating whether it is an expansion or a headquarter relocation or something else.

I'll go first to start things off, this is a potential corporate expansion by Google, which is seeking a location to put its next operations center. It will create 5,000 positions in a multitude of sub-sectors ranging from research to service. Google is only looking at Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and Dallas (A-B-C-D) for this:
When there are new developments in your city and/or metropolitan area that fits the description of what this thread is about, feel free to post and update everyone with the new information. If there have been new developments by way of corporate expansions and/or headquarters relocations in your area in the last 1-2 years, you can post that too, since it is relatively recent.
Seattle doesn't go for operations-type centers. However Google will soon have room for more than 5,000 people at engineering centers in the area (not HQ). About 640,000 sf is underway on the northern fringe of Downtown (South Lake Union), and they've also been growing their campus in inner-suburban Kirkland. They'll soon have 1,000,000 sf.
Facebook is growing more quickly (not HQ). Between buildings occupied or under construction now at the north and south ends of Downtown Seattle plus news reports of explosive growth in suburban Redmond, they seem like they could have room for 10,000+ people, or 2,000,000 sf, in a few years. Actually a lot more than 10,000 based on how tightly they occupy some of their offices. Some of that is media speculation based on building purchases etc.
Expedia (HQ, with multiple online travel brands) is underway with a headquarters relocation from Downtown Bellevue to a waterfront campus a mile from Downtown Seattle, starting with reuse of former biotech buildings. They've toned down the initial phase and it might be just a few thousand people.
Amazon of course is going beserk, with millions of square feet under construction in/around Downtown Seattle including towers they're building themselves as well as others they're leasing.
Microsoft has been in the media with billions of dollars in campus upgrades in Redmond.
Chicago has had tons of relocations and expansions over the past few years, but I'll just stick to the most recent stuff....
2017 marked the third year in a row Chicago topped the US in number of corporate expansions, new headquarters and investments with 402 projects. Runners up were Houston with 196 projects and Dallas with 192.
The city itself has added 168,304 jobs over the past 6 years. Some random tit-bits from the past 12 months:

Software company ActiveCampaign expands from 12,000 sq ft of space to 100,000sf and workforce expanding from 70 to 350.
California based Depomed pharma company is relocating its headquarters to the Chicago area this summer and opening a new office with around 70 initial employees.
Flexport expanding with a new US office in Chicago this summer adding around 100 jobs.
Aspen Dental is moving their headquarters from Syracuse, NY to Chicago this summer. Their office will bring 250 jobs to the area and they will be based in the West Loop.
Skender is opening a new facility to pre-cast apartment building materials. The factory on the south side will open soon with an initial 100 employees.
AT&T opening a platinum call center on the northwest side of the city employing over 500 people with starting wages of $18 per hour minimum.

California based ServiceNow is opening a new engineering center to be based in Chicago with 150 new hires.

No, their headquarters is still in Racine. (I know, because I have family who work in management for them). They DID move 175 jobs, though, but not their headquarters. Racine is still a part of Milwaukee's MSA, but close to Chicago.

This is what I read in the news, maybe it wasn't the global headquarters, my mistake.
