My wife is from Barbados, so I'd probably want to send her and my family down there while I stay and defend it, but knowing her she'd want to stay and fight, and my mother & sister being ICU nurses would probably want to stay to help the sick & injured. So my guess is ultimately my family is going nowhere, even if I desire otherwise.
I'd propose we all go to Holland, round up all those instigating pacifists and burn their stupid wooden shoes. Oh yeah, then knock over their windmills with our giant 4-wheel drive pick ups, tear through their tulip fields and finish by blasting a few hundred holes in their dikes with the help of a dozen or so US Navy Seals.
Hahaha... that was pretty funny, especially the part about knocking over their windmills with giant 4 wheel drive pickups. Make sure the pickups have glass packs though, so the message is conveyed properly.
Why would you lose your American citizenship if you cross the border?
Why would Americans hide at all? If someone attacked the United States, Americans would defend themselves. Americans are a family. We may bicker amongst ourselves, we may find it impossible to agree, we may call each other names, but if we were attacked we draw together despite our differences, and we would resolutely face our enemies together.
And if Yellowstone exploded, it would cause global devastation, not just wipe out Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.

If there were to be a big breakout of warfare I couldn't think of a better place to be than Canada. They never provoke or stick their nose in others business and if they were ever under attack then the US would have their back in a heartbeat. Call me a traitor, whatever. Sure as hell beats fighting in a war. This planet has seen enough of that already.
