Portable basketball hoops are my "no-go" trigger.

If you have to drive through the hood to get to your "nice" neighborhood, YOU live in the hood.

The meat at the school cafeteria is so tough it beats you up after school.

What? You can find those all over suburbia. What's wrong with kids being active?

Martin Luther King Blvd. is a signature street in your hood.
Every other block has a hole in the wall church
You see murder scenes of 6,7,8 victims with their brains flowing out of their head.

There are Dollar Generals on every corner

Every run-down convenience store/gas station has a "We Accept EBT" sign in the window

They can't seem to build enough Bojangles restaurants

Most of the puppies for sale in your local classifieds newsletter are Pitbulls

They are putting up a lot of "walk-in" emergency clinics (the better to get a piece of the government Medicaid "pie", which so many of your local residents are on)

More than the average number of "Tattoo" parlors

The biggest employer in your town is the Wal-mart Supercenter, which is filled to the brim with shoppers on the first of every month when the "benefits" drop

When you tell people you lived in Russia and you know crime and the locals still say you need to leave before before dark.
