seems like this is the place to vent out some frustrations about misconceptions of where people live. including my own misconceptions. after coming back from cali, found out not every guy refers to another guy saying "Bra" or saying "dude" every sentance... not every girl from cali is a valley girl or talks like one lol... found that out rather embarrasingly... what i didnt expect was the counter questioning asking if theres more than corn, cow farms, and endless plains in the midwest. what i did like was the women interested in just talking to me telling me I got a Chicago accent... lol!! i guess its human nature to wonder what a place and the people from there are like or what their about.... but actually goin an visiting and immersing oneself in local culture is the only way to really know...

People think that Ohio is nothing but farms and old rusted up factories. Also, apparently every single neighborhood of Cleveland and Cincinnati is a ghetto.

^Sure looks like a rough area.

Where I live (the Orlando area) is often perceived to be like living in the middle of a Disney fantasy with super clean surroundings, everyone skipping around with big smiles on their faces, sunshiney days by the pool and fireworks at night. The reality is that for those visiting, and for most of those that live here it's just another soulless sprawling Sunbelt suburb.
