Canary Island palms don't do good in Florida. I rarely see them out there to begin with and when I do.....what's the word.......Well they are nothing compared to the ones you see in California. The ones in California are amazing!
A desert palm is a date palm which are fairly common palm in FL, I think they originate in the middle east. To answer dreamofmonterey question the Washingtonias and Royal Palms have to be the tallest palms in FL.
