Basically what it says...I've been looking up both Chicago and St. Louis...both cities are well over 20 degrees warmer right now than they should be, and it appears it will stay that way at least for the next week. If this year isn't evidence of global warming, I'm not sure what is...this weather is about two months ahead of schedule. Thoughts?
And last year was below normal. That is my thought.
This has been the mildest winter I have ever seen in Minnesota. We have had maybe three or four weeks of snow cover instead of the usual four months. The high in Minneapolis on Wednesday is supposed to be 72.
Historically March used to be the snowiest month of winter in the Twin Cities. When the 30 year averages were last updated in 2010 it stopped being that. Now two out of the last three Marches have been full fledged spring with it being too warm to snow.
I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of cold weather and snow this winter. As for global warming, however, the US weather pattern in any single year neither proves nor disproves whether global warming is underway. While we have had a warmer than average winter, Europe has had a brutally colder than average winter, with snow as far south as Rome: Officials: Eastern Europe's cold snap kills more than 600
We didn't have a winter at all. We had a Fall that faded into Spring. We had no snow accumulation this year, just a few flurries. Usually we have at least 2 days with snow accumulation, last year we had 4.
It has been one of the warmest winters on record in NH this year. Only a few snow events and most days the high temperature was well above freezing. Like others have mentioned, I have never seen a weather pattern like this with temperatures 10-30F above average for such a long period of time. One would think something has to give eventually?

Quite frankly I'm not complaining nor concerned. High 60's today and balmy weather all week in March here in Massachusetts and we haven't had to deal with hardly any snow at all this winter. I'm pretty happy about it, so I'll just enjoy the moment as I sit here on my Adirondack chair with the sun on my face. Ho Hum
The unusually warm winter has been nice, but I definitely wish we had more of a winter. I love winter. I really hope this trend stops though...the idea of a summer with unusually extremely hot temperatures is downright terrifying haha.

Is that normal, stlouisan?
Early March, are you kidding me? Our average daily high is 54 degrees around this time of year...and it's looking like it could reach 88 tomorrow...WTF!!!! This isn't supposed to happen typically until late May at the earliest. I can only imagine what kind of summer this country is in for this year with temperatures in the 70s and 80s already, even in places like Chicago. These temperatures are around 30 degrees above normal.
