I'll admit that this is something I don't have much experience with, but I was just thinking of how unusual it must be that in the city of New Orleans by itself we have three HBCU's (Xavier (Catholic) Dillard (private/nondenominational) and Southern Univ of N.O. (public).
I know there was something posted on here a while ago that said that HBCU's are common only in the South ( I think there's one in PA?) but there aren't really any farther north or west.
Just off the top of my head, Houston has at least one, Atlanta, Hampton Roads, Jackson MS?
I really hope this doesn't start some sort of racial debate, I am just curious about the concentration of these institutions.

In the Raleigh-Durham area, there's NC Central in Durham and Shaw and St. Augustine's in Raleigh. Outside of Philadelphia, there's Lincoln University of PA and Cheyney State. In the DC area, there's Howard, UDC and Bowie State in PG County. Wilberforce Ohio outside of Dayton has Central State and Wilberforce. Atlanta has Morris Brown, Atlanta U., Spelman, Morehouse and Clark-Atlanta. Columbia SC has Allen and Benedict. Greensboro NC has Bennett College and NC A&T. There are others, but that's what I could think of of the top of my head.

A more relevant discussion would be about which city has the most students enrolled in area HBCUs.
