Actually McDonalds was founded in Chicago. Ray Krock the founder/owner, was originally from Chicago and McDonald's Hamburger University is located in a Chicago suburb.

Atlanta

Known For:
Transportation (Airport,Delta,Railroad,Interstate)
Communication (CNN,TBS,Cartoon Network,Weather Channel)
Coca Cola
Music Industry (Rap, R&B)

Not Well Known For: (But equally important)
Transportation Equipment (Ford,GM,Lockheed)

Unfortunately the last part may be becoming a thing of the past. Ford Taurus plant shut down GM soon to follow, future of Lockheed not garanteed.

Seems in Atlanta like the rest of America big and small manufacturing is all slipping away to China and Mexico with small service business mostly taking it's place. Mind boggeling to me that this is being allowed to happen as manufacturing has always been the backbone of the U.S. economy providing the most taxable revenue and the highest paying jobs.
