18 years old at the time volunteered for the military back in the 60’s. You either volunteered to go serve or they would call you up and you were drafted. Some good and some bad things came out of leaving home back then. I’d like to think that it was all good for personally for me, however that time period wasn’t always the best for others that I knew.

One would think that this country and the people would have learned from so many mistakes over the years and STOP repeating them again today.

Anyway, I left home at 17 to go to college (600 miles away). I go see my family at Christmas and for short visits, but I never again "lived" at home. I spent my college summers working in other cities.
Depends on the situation. If a person leaves for college, when they fill out paperwork more than likely they use their home address which is most likely their parnets address or legal gaurdian etc. If they live in a dorm thats still not technically their residence.

But, some people leave home for college and might rent an apartment with some other students (sometimes the roomates might not even attend the same school). Live there over the summer and work. In this case (this is my opinion) they've pretty much moved out the house.
