These geography oddities are too big to put in an existing thread:

extreme western Michigan (western UP) is closer to Sioux Falls South Dakota than it is to Detroit

Miami Florida is closer to Cancun Mexico than it is to Pensacola Florida

Brownsville texas is closer to Guatemala than it is to Texline Texas

the northwestern tip of Mexico is closer to Juneau Alaska than it is to Cancun Mexico

Cancun Mexico is closer to Nova Scotia Canada than it is to Tijuana Mexico

Big Diomede Island Russia is closer to Mobile Alabama than it is to Kaliningard Russia

Attu Island Alaska is closer to Mackay Australia and Darwin Australia than it is to Miami Florida

Attu Island Alaska is closer to the northern tip of Japan than it is to Anchorage Alaska

extreme western China is closer to Greece than it is to Shanghai China

Yes, nice. However, they probably belong in the existing thread, "oddities of geography". Why these are greater than that thread is beyond me. I would encourage the mods to move this to the original thread.
