I've heard this before about Maryland. Any idea why?

I agree with California and Texas. In New York the pride is among NYC residents. I find people from Colorado to have a lot of state pride because of Rockies, world-class skiing, fitness, and generally good weather. Many residents of New Jersey that I've met seem to have a lot of pride as well.

Slightly off topic- Florida and Connecticut seem to have the some of the least amount of pride, or that that is the vibe I got from people I know from there.

Not sure why people are mentioning NY. I've never heard of or met anyone with NY state pride. It's all about NYC. Ask someone from Brooklyn if a resident of Rochester is a New Yorker and they will roll their eyes at you.

Texas! I never see a state flag fly prominently alongside that of the Stars and Stripes as often as I did there!
