Imagine if every single state was now a country, with its own border control, own currency, tv channels, own immigration system etc
If that was reality and you had to choose to pick one for you home which state/"country" would it be? Remember that you wouldnt be able to simply move out of that place because you will need visas, work permits etc to move to another country
I think I would move to California because there is something for everyone... Southern Cali has amazing hot climate and hills, SF is beautiful and great for gays, Central valley is quieter and flat with very hot summers, norther Cali is cooler and a bit "remote"... not many states are as lucky as California to be so diverse, not only when it comes to Cities but also climate, topography and economy.

Well I voluntarily moved to Washington state, so I imagine I'd stay here unless something bizarre happened that made some other state/country more appealing to me.

Arizona easily. California would would probably become a 3rd world nation, if it became its own country.

I'd Probably stay here in VA due to the fact we have everything and a very pro-freedom govt. There not a nanny state that believes they should control your life and the would never remove our constitutional right to bear arms to protect our selves like CA,NY etc. Which would be VERY important in a time of the the country falling apart.

I'd probably choose Georgia. I have family and friends there, I like the climate, it has a large city, a large port, some good universities. I also like that it has everything from beaches to farms to mountains.

Virginia (my current state) and North Carolina would also be high on my list. They have even better educational institutions and also have a great variety of geography including access to the ocean and mountains. But I don't like the cities as much in VA or NC as much as I like Atlanta and Savannah.

Nowhere southern. I'd be willing to bet lots of money that, absent the control of the federal government, much of the south would resort back to the semi-feudal society that existed before it was brought kicking and screaming against its will into the modern age.

Sorry, I know people will be annoyed at this, but that's my opinion. I know there are sophisticated urban/suburban areas in the south, however I doubt that they would be able to dominate their states. More likely they'd end up being dominated and subdued by their rural areas/reactionary elements.

This could be a danger in other regions as well, however the south has a very unique history and culture that makes this scenario more likely there. Remember, it took Federal troops to desegregate schools and it wasn't all that long ago. Many of the screaming, hate-filled people in that iconic photo of the black girl being escorted into that Little Rock high school are still alive.

It is you opinon, it is wrong but its still yours. Tx is called the south and this isnt how I would see things here. I also dont agree Tx is strongly southern.

New Mexico or Colorado.
Mountains and deserts are the only types of scenery I enjoy.
