Have you ever lived in a rural county that was NOT within a Metropolitan or a Micropolitan statistical area? If unsure, use this map to check it out.

(Comment once in a while, so the polll doesn't immediately drop off the front page.)

I've lived in three of them, Brown KS, Dent MO and Madison FL. Each of them for more than a year.

Hah, I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and I had to vote no. Not what I expected coming into this thread. Sault Ste. Marie Micropolitan area!

No, I'm currently living in Hartford County CT and moving to Simpson County MS. I was surprised to see it's part of the Jackson metro area.

This is about as non-metro as you get. I don't even live in a county. Okay, we don't have counties here, we have boroughs, but I don't live in a borough, either.

Does State College PA count, seemed pretty rural to me outside of decent sized college town in the middle of mountains

Would not ever think of that area as a city as much as I do enjoy Happy Valley

I haven't officially lived there, but I've spent a lot of time in the summer in Plumas County, California where a lot of my family resides. It's not that far to Reno, but according to that map it's not part of a metro or micropolitan area.

It was also the last county in California that until recently didn't have a stoplight in the entire county.

My brother also used to live in Mono County, CA--itself not in a metro or micropolitan area.

Odd classification on that map, half of Wyoming wouldn't qualify for this poll!
