For me, I have seen only one, and that rest stop would be on I-44 in Missouri near Stanton...roughly about 50-60 miles southwest of St. Louis. All the other ones I've seen are to the right of the highway. If you ask me, the ones on the medians of the highway make more sense to build because you can make one big structure instead of two.

I think the last one I saw was over 20 years ago, on the turnpike part of I-35 from the OK/KS line into Wichita. Before that was on the PA Turnpike. No, wait, there usta be one on I-25 just south of Pueblo, CO. Gone with the times, now. And you're correct in the cost-savings department, that one structure is much cheaper than two, along with the land involved.

Actually there is another one I remember about 250-350 miles further southwest on I-44 in Oklahoma, between Tulsa and Oklahoma City...I remember it specifically because it had no toilet paper LOL. I-44 is the only interstate i've been on that had left exits as rest-stops.

Interesting....where on the PA turnpike? I-76 west of where it merges with I-70, , I-76 when its merged with I-70, or I-76 east of where it splits with I-70? I'll have to check out I-35 in Wichita...never been on that stretch of I-35.

I've never seen a rest stop that is a left exit on a highway. All the ones I see are on both sides of the highway.

Oh, gosh, this has been some 30 years ago, when I was stationed in DC. Whatever road it was from DC north into PA, then merging with the interstate/turnpike. Heading west. Man, that's all I can remember, sorry!

I think most turnpikes are like this. I know Florida's Turnpike has rest stops on the left. Well rest stops that are not your typical rest stops.

Forty-four has left exit rest stops believe me. Going west from St. Louis, the very first rest stop is a left exit. This is the only left exit rest stop I've ever seen in the whole Midwest. And in Oklahoma there is another left exit rest-stop, well...it's actually a Phillips 66 gas station but technically you could count it as a rest stop I guess, maybe not. It's the only gas station I've ever seen that's a left exit...it's literally right on the median of the highway.

Yea....I-44 in Oklahoma where the gas station is a left exit is a turnpike...I can't remember whether it is the Creek Turnpike or Turner Turnpike. 44 is a Turnpike throughout its whole time in Oklahoma I believe. However, 44 is not a turnpike in Missouri.
