I used to live on a reservation and most of the youth would always say "I can't wait to get outta here!"...I'm glad I did
Do you want an "r" with that ru_al land?

It used to be country. Now people live up there and commute across NJ to Manhattan.

Yes, I know. But my family spent our summers there when I was a kid, and it's astounding how much it's been built up. Traffic lights on 611 and 940. K-Mart, Wal-Mart. There are stores in Blakeslee and pizza places everywhere. And so many houses now.

Bingo! Have heard more than one amusing tale of a person traveling in a remote area, usually a woman, whether alone or with a companion, that has actually become panicky when her cell phone does not work because there is no signal in the area. Hard to believe that any adult could become this urbanized and married to their techy toys, but apparently such persons are not unusual. For myself, being in a cell free area would be like a brief trip to paradise

Quite so. The fall travel season is not far away, and a late September or October driving trip to some remote area is in the planning stage.

There are 2 espresso bars attached to my bldg. If I can't find at least 5 of them within a 10-min walk in any direction... I'm in the middle of nowhere.
