Obviously, people have a good deal in common now matter where you go in the U.S., and every state is a mix, to one extent or another, of different individuals who together make up the state or region's culture.
That being said, which state or region of the U.S. is your favorite, in terms of the people and culture?
I like the northeast region of the US because I am from NY/CT and the people, in general, seem to be more goal oriented and driven for success. I currently live in Atlanta now as I've moved out of NY for work but most people down here just like to work hard, play hard. Certainly, however, many people in the northeast are the same way, but there's just something a little different about it up there. I've never really been out West except Colorado for a week, so I don't think I could comment on that.
Actually, yes I can comment on that. Colorado is beautiful if you love rural areas. I don't really like open spaces, but holy crap, Colorado was its own type of beauty that I've never encountered before. We went for my cousin's wedding and she was the only one in my entire family to ever move out West from our family roots in the northeast. When my family all got to CO, we were kind of weirded out by how friendly everyone was and how beautiful the scenery was. I don't recall one place I went where I wasn't in awe by the beauty. Oh, and the air felt a lot fresher there too. My allergies completely cleared up overnight and I literally could feel weight lifting off my chest every time I breathed.
Yet there's always that something that drags me back to the northeast, even though I hate the winter weather and high cost of living.

Cajun Louisiana. Hands down. No comparison anywhere else.
I love that beautiful Chesapeake Bay area and am headed there myself next week! Virginia Beach, here I come! But I also love all this sort of stuff... (pics)
Wherever I go I still find the Bay to be my favorite place. Like you I love Texas and Louisiana as well.
New Englanders are a cultured, taciturn people. They can be reserved at times, but also diplomatic--willing to help you out with a strong sense of community.
New Englanders are also respectful of others' beliefs and tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Least favorite would probably be one of the Southern cultures.
