10 million + for me. I'm stationed in El Paso, a metro of 800k and it feels like Mayberry. The energy, diversity and things to do is why I enjoy huge cities.
Large but not gigantic.....1 Million - 3 Million is perfect for me.
Same here. That option is missing in the poll IMO.
Out of the very large (5 mio+) metros I would only move to the SF Bay Area and Chicagoland (unless I'm offered a really good job in NYC or so).
It depends on the area itself, for me. I love where I live now, which is in the small category. I wouldn't necessarily love another area, just because it's small.
I guess this explains why when posters want recommendations for small metros, people generally recommend metro areas between 1 and 3 million.
I've lived in a small metro area for 3 years and a medium metro area for the rest of my life, at least according to this definition. I'm not sure how I'd react to living in a large metro area, although one that is 1.2 million is quite different from one that's 5 million.
