Well hello everybody!

I am a Social Studies teacher from New York.

I am looking for a new home somewhere in the US of A

I'd greatly appreciated if somebody pointed me to a state which would match my criteria.

Ok well Here I go!

-I would like to own a small farm (20 acres or around that) outside of a small town, thinking a town of maybe less than 5,000. My maximum amount to spend is $ 300,000
- I like the Pacific Northwest, The Midwest and the south.
- People who won't mind a newcomer!
- A conservative state preferably
- some jobs that are available
- I would prefer not having rough winters but if I love the place ill make due.
- Christian community
- a good school

So any states or even specific cities that would match this?

Thanks everyone

Have you considered the Plain States or Southwest?

The winters are more mild; the land is pretty cheap. I used to live on 20 acres about an hour south of Kansas City. Perfect combination. Quiet and relaxing, but close enough to the airport, museums, and shopping. I would suggest finding a decent size metro and then moving 30-60 minutes outside the radius because Midwestern cities turn to farmland quickly.

North Carolina has places like this. South Carolina probably does, too.

What is the school for? Attending? Or will you still teach? If you will be teaching, either disregard what I said about the Carolinas or redo your budget.

It sounds like you would enjoy the high desert areas of Oregon and Idaho. There are numerous small towns and lots of open land. Oregon is always viewed as a liberal state but after having lived there I learned that it was mainly the cities that were that way and the smaller towns were more conservative. The winters in the high desert won't be a dream come true but they won't be to crazy either. If you haven't done it already I would recommend the interstate drive from Boise, Id to Portland, Or. I think it's beautiful and you would probably love it. Good luck in your search.
