Love those pix of Mattole Road! I've ridden my motorcycle there several times. It's a bit bumpy but the total lack of traffic is worth it.

The most isloated -feeling- road I've been on is US 441 in florida between Okeechobee and Holopaw.

I'm sure that doesn't hold a candle to some roads out west and it's probably not the most isolated road I've been on but it sure does feel like it.

Take your pick of roads out in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas.

M-28 through Upper Michigan between Newberry and Munising. Known here as the "Seney stretch" very isolated, lots of swamp country and if you break down out there you might be in for a long night. Alot of people think the road is creepy, im not sure I see it that way, just a whole lot of swamp and scrub pine.

Colorado route 71 north from Rocky Ford to Brush is a very lonely route to be on. I used it twice now instead of the I-25, it has less traffic. I should say it has “no” traffic each time I used it. I never saw another car on the highway. There are a few small towns but very few. It’s still a great bypass instead of I-25 with all the traffic going n/s.

Funny you mention it. I was on the same highway a couple of years ago, just north of Brush. No traffic is right. I comfortably hit 90 mph on that road.
