No, it's 2 and a half. Long Island isn't part of NYC, so Brooklyn/Queens take up roughly half of that Island....the other half is Long Island. Staten Island and Manhattan are the other two islands. The Bronx is the only borough NOT on an island.

Who said anything about the Bronx?

And yes, technically you are correct about Long Island, but when you thinking in terms of tristate area, it really is only a semantic argument.
