I've been to both Portland and Dullsa (I mean Tulsa), both in the past 4 years, explored them both.

I stayed in downtown Tulsa and Portland, and I see no comparison whatsoever!

Downtown Tulsa needs more than a blood transfusion! I had just come from Oklahoma City, staying in their Bricktown area, and I wasn't in Tulsa a day and I missed OKC's Bricktown! I had to scout around like crazy for a downtown bar, and when I did find one, I found out they only served 3.2 beer!!!

Yes, they have the river, but it's too far from whatever they call the parking lot-strewn downtown area!

Tulsa has potential, but it's going to take years and billions of dollars for that to happen! Currently, it's as car-centric as a suburb!

You just missed the Metamorphoses of ( old downtown) into ( new downtown ) the BOK Center and OneOk Baseball Field changed downtown forever , but it still has a very long way to go before it's really viable as a really happening place that other major city will tip theirs hats at.....

Portland has a very diverse population in that there's a lot of different types of people with different interests and different opinions.

It's really a shame that diversity is usually measured by skin color.

How diverse? What are the different types of people, interests and opinions? Would you elaborate further for us please?

Who cares about "diversity"? Diversity only leads to trouble and even more discrimination.

I agree with you to some extent. I think it's one of those popular buzz words people use when they are trying to show how all-accepting they are. It really doesn't mean a whole lot when you are describing a society of people.

Cities can be described diverse in all kinds of ways. It's a very broad term.

How do we make Tulsa more vibrant and exciting? It looks like it has some great potential walkable neighborhoods. Y'all want mass transit or something?

The BOK was already built when I was there, just a couple blocks from my hotel. After dark, downtown, very little, if any, streetlife. I did see a couple of older buildings downtown, being converted into condo's/apartments and I wish the best for Tulsa as it has a lot of potential!

What was worse, I didn't have a car, and I was a prisoner to the downtown area for 2 days! But I didn't have a car in OKC either, and it was a bit more pleasant!

Not to mention, lots of different ethnicities. Even if most of them are white (30% of them aren't), it's not like Romanians, English, Irish, Russians, Italians, Ashkenazi Jews etc are all one homogenous mold. And then like I said you have Mexican, Chinese, Vietnamese, Black, etc. I'd say Portland is more multicultural than Cleveland or somewhere like that.

There has to be a changing of the guard in Tulsa Oklahoma before it's takes off " the city rulers in theirs 50's and 60's and 70's and 80's are going to have to die off " and some new blood pumped into public office here in T.O. Southwest Tulsa Oklahoma.

As you know the whole state went RED all 77 counties " even Tulsa County " so that tell you all that you need to know about tulsa oklahoma.

The Democratic Mayor of Tulsa Kathy Taylor pushed hard for a " Commuter Rail and Light Rail System " for the city and county of Tulsa , but was beat back by a sea of RED. Kathy Taylor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
