Which state do you think has the worst roads ? My vote goes to Louisiana . I drive to Lake Charles , Louisiana a few times every year and as soon as I hit the Louisiana border , the roads get bumpy and ragity . My vehicle is bouncing up and down and rocking from side to side because of the bumpy and ragity pavement . The roads are so bumpy that sometimes I get a stomach ache while driving . Everyone who rides with me knows when we are in Louisiana because as soon as ya pass the Louisiana welcome sign , the bumps come almost immediately . Even if we miss seeing the welcome sign , we know when we're in Louisiana , that's just how bad the roads are . The whole time your in Lousiana you think you have a flat tire . Roads are just that bad . Which state do you think has the worst roads ?

I asked this question awhile back. Arkansas and Louisiana get my personal votes along with Mississippi and Alabama.

Pennsylvania was rated one of the worst by truckers years ago,and now with the privatization of tolls here who knows if the roads will ever get any better!

The snowbelt areas of Michigan tend to have bad roads because they can not keep up with the road maintenance in some instances. The locals refer to the phenonmenon as a tale of two seasons (Winter and road construction).

I would have agreed with you about 5 years ago, but today it seems like PENNDOT is doing a MUCH better job. There are many corridors and roads that have been completely reconstructed and repaved over the past few years, at least in the Philadelphia area. It's a start.

Haven't been there, but Alaska would be a logical guess. That harsh weather would have to be pretty rough on the roads.
