As the winter drags on, I found myself looking forward to spring...
A few years ago, I went to Buenos Aires in November, and remember the intense greens, purples, reds, and pinks that would radiate from every park and flower bed. Flowers carpeted the asphalt. Aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, and citrus would fill my room with the morning breeze.
Does any city or region in the States see Spring with the same level of intensity?
If you can get to Mobile, Savannah or Charleston in the last 10 days of March (by April 5, it's starting to wither), do so. Azaleas, dogwood, and wisteria are all blooming at once. It can be spectacular (visually and fragrantly) in the older neighborhoods of these three grand southern port cities.
