You say you guys go fishing, hunting, going to the lake, etc to have fun. For us, those activities arent real activities, those are things redneck do
I would hate to live in a city where everyone is white and look all the same.
Um... really? You're making the comment that all white people "look the same?" And you're trying to brag about Californians being open-minded and cultured? Holy crap. You are not doing your state any favors.

At what point in your California education did they teach you that it was OK to say things like that? You realize that all of those "boring white people" are individuals, and no two are alike... right? And that you shouldn't judge people by the color of their skin, and all of that stuff?

Here in the Midwest, we teach things like that in kindergarten. You do have kindergarten in California... right?

You are just as crazy and myopic as insane4madonna.

(but thanks for asking, Traffic on the 405 has been pretty light. I was born looking good and plenty of self-esteem, so I have no need for plastic surgeons, and my pickup truck runs on gasoline.)

But here's the thing. You're obviously right to get mad - insane4 madonna is obviously being ignorant and stupid, but seriously do you seriously think that people like her, represent California, or even Los Angeles? Why fight ignorance with ignorance? I moved from the midwest to California, and although you do have people like that, most people are not like that, and there a LOT of people here from the midwest. I moved here, partially because of the natural variety across the state. The different mountain ranges, the different deserts, different ocean coasts, some rocky, some sandy, etc. and there actually is a lot of agriculture, tasty oranges fresh from the groves . . . yes there still here if you know where to look.

And as far as getting defensive about being white and all that, why not set insane4madonna straight by pointing out that, uhh . . . Detroit became a melting pot of different cultures when LA was just a small town when the auto industry attracted people to auto jobs at the time, uh . . . hello metro Detroit still has one of the largest AA/black middle classes in the country, as well as the biggest Arab population in the country.

If some ignoramus from LA (which again, this person is just a troll) is stereotyping the midwest as being all white why not just point out the simple fact that . . . . NOT EVERYONES white in the midwest!!

Why not talk about the world class art museums in midwest cities, or whatever. The midwests own worst enemies are sometimes . . . midwesterners, they don't know that there cities are actually cooler (other than Chicagoans who have swagger and boastfulness about their city) than they realize, so then they talk as if raising a family is the prime activity here. (Certainly it is, but its more than that).

Im from Upstate NY and find that most people from the Midwest are grounded, down to earth, blue collar, intelligent, and not fazed by materialism that is rampant on the coasts. Two of the best cities in the country (Chicago and Minneapolis) and one of the best in the world (Chicago).

And this is a bad thing?

Midwest has boring geography? Well, nobody is clamoring over the geography in the East either. Upstate NY has nice valleys and "mountains" but hardly anything to stay for. The West has this won quite easily.
