My BF and I are thinking about moving. We are thinking about Virginia, NC, SC, and GA.
We are from Boston but both of us have lived outside of Massachusetts before so we are prepared for a different culture.
We are 24 and 26 years old. Both of us have degrees. My BF is an EMT and does security and I'm almost an accountant. I also have a small dog and I would like to be able to live close enough to the city but still have a small gated area for my dog to get exercise.
I want to live in a good place to start a career and has plenty of work for Accountants. Boston is a great place to be an accountant but all of the good work is in the center of the city and as a recent grad with little/no family support, I'm practically priced out of living less than an hour from the Financial District.
I also want:
A Hispanic presence
A Catholic presence
No more than an hour from the Beach
A place where locals are generally non-aggressive/scammers
Not too many NYers but I'm open to places that have a lot of other Northerners
A place with real History, a Historical city
Good locally owned restaurants
A Financial District with parking
A small town/middle sized town feel
Where do you think would be best for us?
We will probably go down to visit a couple of places this summer for a week or two before we make any decisions.
Thanks!

Jacksonville, FL would be a good option...though just south (barely) of your target area.
It has a significant (and growing) Hispanic community, with 8% of the city's 821,000. There are a number of Catholic churches to choose from, it's on the coast with nice beaches, has a laidback non-aggressive population (few NYers), a lot of history in-town and just to the south (St Augustine) and just north (Fernandina Beach) as the oldest settlements in the US, a decent restaurant scene, a well developed downtown core with parking that's not overly congested, and otherwise a a smaller town feel outside the core. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacksonville,_Florida

Perhaps Charleston SC, Biloxi/Gulfport/Pascagoula MS and plenty of TX locations within an hour or so of the Gulf of Mexico(Corpus Christi, College Station, Galveston, etc.).

Oops....Scratch the other suggestions besides Charleston. Maybe Columbia SC could work too.

Columbia is more than an hour from the beach and while it has history, it isn't really a "historical" city in the same vein as Charleston, Savannah, and maybe even Wilmington.
