So I did a search and surprisingly didn't find any threads about vegan friendly cities. So I figure I will go ahead and ask ya'll what the most vegan friendly cities are!
I'm a strict vegetarian/bordering on vegan (I eat dairy maybe two times per week and have lived off of an entirely-vegan diet for months on end before), and haven't had any issues finding produce or eating out in LA, SF, Seattle, Portland, or Boston. NYC was actually tricker than Boston, but even still, I made it work there, too.
I think you can be vegan fairly easily in pretty much any city these days, though if you, like me, are more into preparing your own food from fresh produce, then LA and SF have a distinct advantage in having access to year-round, high-quality, cheap natural produce.
Portland OR has some friendly vegan restaurants if you like dining out. Also there are lots of farmers markets some year round. Many regular restaurants have vegan choices. You will find other people who follow vegan diets to share ideas with too.
Larger college towns as well. Amherst (MA), Chapel Hill/Carrboro (NC), Bloomington (IN) and Boulder (CO) come to mind and stack up with the big cities in terms of options.
