You think "this" sand is better than Florida?

I'm talking about white powder sand that squeaks when you walk.

Have you ever been to Destin, St. Andrews, Pensacola Beach?

There are a lot of different sand variations in Florida by the way... If you actually think the sand at Lake Michigan is better you probably hit up the Atlantic side or the Keys or something.

Florida beaches and beach sand information and comparison coast to coast | VISITFLORIDA.com

Destin is amazing. But some Florida beaches are really bad. Jacksonville Beach and the beaches towards Georgia are terrible.

I'm sorry, I don't care how beautiful the dunes or sands are, if the water looks like a muddy river, I ain't interested in going there. That is the problem with the entire coast from St. Augustine up thru Myrtle Beach. I don't understand why a place like Hilton Head is so popular. I was floored first time I went there and saw the gray colored muddy sand, and the brown murky water.

Go to the British Virgin Islands (or some of the countries in the Indian Ocean area) and you'll realize how ****ty most of the beaches in the US are.

I agree, the beaches I'm referring to are all gulf beaches around the panhandle or aroudn tampa/clearwater/venice. The water is clear or turqouise. And no, I certainly do not think there is a stretch on Lake Michigan that is comparable.

alogn with run off and pollution from chicago and milwaukee, gary. you think that is better than fl beaches? gotta be trippin.

You are obviously not aware that Lake Michigan is the drinking water for some 10 million plus people, it is easily one of the most monitored/protected bodies of water ON EARTH. When you hear that the beaches are closed on Lake Michigan, that's almost always due to 100% natural pollution after rain...compare that to coastal beaches, which ARE NOT sources of drinking water, therefore are not nearly as monitored as the Great Lakes.

and yes, I prefer the Indiana Dunes NATIONAL Lakeshore to anything that Florida offers....sue me...

ever ever found beaches more beautiful than the white pure sands of Lake Michigan.
Ever heard of an opinion?

People aren't looking at Michigan for a beach vacation like they are with Florida for example. There's a reason for that.

Michigan does actually have beautiful beaches, a lot of people would be surprised, but compared to some of the premiere places in the world it's not quite there. But people who don't think Michigan has beautiful beaches should be educated about it.

Agree to a point, but draw the line at Hawaii. Beaches in Maui and Kauai are among the best in the world.

Napali Coast in Kauai = Heaven

lol, just a reminder...you were flabbergasted that I might prefer Lake Michigan/Indiana beaches to those in Florida.... so I posted some pics.... to which you responded with pics NOT FROM FLORIDA....but from the Virgin Islands.

Should I up your ante and post pics from the Seychelles? Maldives? Where are we going with this?

I told you that I find the beaches of the Indiana National Lakeshore, better than the beaches of Florida.

You responded with pics of the Virgin Islands.

So let me get this straight. You can respond with naming a bunch of countries, but I can't? I'm presenting you with an opinion, as someone who grew up going to beaches on Lake Superior and Lake Michigan in both Minnesota and Michigan, that I disagree with your statement and seeing as it's a personal opinion....I have just as much right to mention the British Virgin Islands, which is not too far from the US, than you do mentioning the Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, etc.

I get your point, but I can present an opinion of mine the other way around.
