I have a suggestion: Mullen, Nebraska. I mean, look at this splendor. https://www.google.com/maps/@42.0413...7i13312!8i6656

Hear me out. You build three dormitories and an office building. One dorm for Congress, one dorm for the aides, and one for the President and his/her staff. Nice, comfortable single beds. A rec hall with a couple of ping pong and pool tables. A cafeteria serving decent chow and alcoholic beverages on Saturday and Sunday. A cable package with roughly 50 channels.

And no lobbyists are allowed to live anywhere within 150 miles of Mullen. As in if they want to see a congressman, they have to drive there, meet, and drive back. No $1,000 dinners. No junkets, either. Stroll down to the Chuckwagon 'n Jug as a special treat.

Show up six months out of the year, do your business, and then go home. Make it so people view serving in Congress as a painful duty. Plus they'll be forced to see how normal people live.

The Supreme Court can be some place nice. They're lifetime appointees anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Philly, it's right on the border of two other states so it wouldn't be overly PA-centric and it was where the country was established.

If you want it to be a city that's closer to the middle geographically, my pick would then be St. Louis.

Philadelphia WAS a Capital of the US. It was the Capital when DC was chosen and built. It would have loved to have kept it or gained it back..... never will happen of course.

We created such divisions Politically in this Nation NEVER could such a undertaking as this could the US making big plans again EVER DO. Now that we do not have the know-how... Just Conservatives NEVER would and WHERE would have it fought for the South again.... History shows that DC where it is as was the South then too.... is there by Congress giving George Washington the choice of where... his home was Mt Vernon.... right by it and to APPEASE the Southern early Nation's Father's.

Conservatives again, NEVER would approve such a BIG GOVERNMENT undertaking and the Liberals would not have the Kahoonas to take all that cost away from current infrastructures, our aging Power-grid and our major cities with problems WE CREATED in abandonment of inner cities, White-flight and promoting segregation for decades.

So there is not moving even to a new CURRENT City legitimately or remotely being planned. At best and perhaps existing... is a perhaps underground region for a Capitol if need-be by some calamity.....

For all we know.... we as a Nation will divided in coming decades. Texas as first.... it already has the Conservative movement to have it on the Ballot to vote for succession. Why their Power-grid was already mostly Texas alone vs the rest more National and whole region.

Anyway currently it is EGYPT that is doing a MEGA-PROJECT of building a New Administrative Capitol the size of Singapore in area to be populated by millions. Started over a year or 2 ago... it is on fast-pace to be completed in 2-years. The city rising from the Sands away from Cairo with its 20+million+ still growing fast city.

Where it gets its money apparently is the World loaning it $$$ it is not a Oil Rich Arab Country afterall. Yet they can do a 58-Billion $$$ new city with migrant labor that would cause a few times more if in the US no doubt... many times more perhaps.

We can label it Socialist whatever.... we are stymied by our own un-comprpmizing NO CAN DO SPIRIT... not them.

The city or good portion is being designed by SOM a Chicago based Architecutural firm who designed Dubai's tallest building in the world currently and back-in-a-day the US tallest in the early 1970s. Sears Tower (Willis Tower today) and Trump Tower Chicago over a decades ago.

Brazil built a still impressive new Capital City in the 1960s Brazilia. Now Egypt is.
Video on currently ongoing in Phases its new Capital. Look at the plans and how each Phase is going up together.

Best we can hope is there is a Bunker Capital somewhere if needed if the US has a major issue from abroad. Just the way we are going.... it could be division and imploding from within. Texas vs the South and West and North and ...... militias .....

With all the BIG CITY HATE We have today as bastions of Liberalism and wanting our wood-toothpick suburban homes clad in some stone perhaps and wood-stick multi-residential complexes.... WE ARE NOT GOING TO BUILD A NEW URBAN CITY and building it in a existing one? Makes little sense.... DC is not a overcrowded Cairo etc. and Missiles can reach anywhere in the US by our enemies today anyway to need a inland location.....

No large city ever formed there because of the frequent floods. That would still be an issue.

The mean center of population is pushing both south and west, it's almost equidistant to Tulsa and Kansas City now. Considering the longer term trend, Tulsa would actually make more sense as center of the country capital.

Some questions I think are pertinent to the thread topic.
Do we think....
- the US needs a interior Capital to replace DC?
- the US would actually ever again undertake building some new Administrative Capital?
- the US in this era where nuke-missiles can reach from Asia and any of our enemies.... to DC or a KC....does any need of a new interior Capital make sense?
- the US already does or does not have a (if war or attack came) a bunker Capital perhaps in the Great Plains to Rocky Mountains or Southwest already as a doomsday one we see in the movies..... so what is a need for a new visible surface inland city perhaps?

We all know politically, the US no longer can get in unity to do Great Large mega things ever again ( maybe some form of a Infrastructure Bill will pass as both sides in the past proposed one). Taxes needed are not there or can be raise (by partisanship) and only more debt is what will result no matter what. Even if a Biden Infrastructure Bill passes in some form? I is unlikely it can pass with any new tax revenue to pay for it. So a NEW CAPITAL? I mean NEVER will we be able to agree Politically with on side wanting LESS GOV in reality and States take over by far. WE NEED WORRY MORE ON A TEXAS and group of other state wanting to LEAVE the UNION and declare the TRUE US of A..... this is gaining steam today....

So I am not sure what this Thread actually is suppose to say?
Is it.
- we need a new interior Capital not near any border or coastal region?
- could we even undertake in this era one like Egypt is currently building with money from around the world in loans and Socialist funneling it to a Grand New City?
- would we even consider a existing larger city to relocate it too with gov buildings a new White House and where Congress meets type Capital?

To me only one in a doomsday event is what we either already more secretly or ever will need. We already have a branch of our citizens who abhor our major cities as a bastion of Liberalism and corruption to low-lives. No way would they agree to such a creation.

Maybe this thread is more like a game of where in a New America of Thinking Big again and in a virtual unreal unity... consider a new Capital... then it is like a fantasy one. Unless the Nation divides.... some where a new Capital will rise.
