We dont know too much about Charlotte except that most people like it there. how is it for a family enviornmet? how safe is the area? are there specific areas to look at for homes??? any information would be helpful. thanks

I moved to Charlotte from Atlanta. In Atlanta I was single and had a blast. It just seems like a great place to be young and single. I moved to Charlotte and married shortly after. To me, Charlotte seems like a better fit for a more family lifestyle.

My family and I have lived in Charlotte for 3 years and love it. For schools either South Charlotte, Cabarrus County or Public Montessori. I am not sure about communities in South Charlotte, I don't live there. We live in the University area and have had good experiences with people. Subdivisions, Highland Creek, Skybrook, Rocky River Mills are a few in the University area. Hopes this helps.

I'd consider Union county as well. There are so many subdivisions in the Charlotte area that would probably meet your needs -- really depends on what you are looking for in a home, where your workplace(s) would be as well as price point of course.

In terms of jobs, it depends on what your field is on whether or not you would want to work in Uptown. According to an internet account: "About 77,000 people work in Charlotte's center city. The headquarters for the Fortune 500 companies: Bank of America, Duke Energy, and Wachovia are located there." The commute really depends on where you live. I know that I-77 is pretty congested in the mornings and some friends that live in Ballantyne for example have told of a 30-45 minute commute in the mornings (which also includes getting onto I-485 as well).

I would also like to mention that there are some great neighborhoods outside of Charlotte in the Pineville-Matthews area, that you can find a great deal in.
