I heard horror stories about getting work done on house, additions, etc. where I live - NEW MEXICO. Call me lucky or call me poor but I did not get too many house repairs during the last six years except for getting swamp cooler (why named swamp - are we in FL everglades?) switched over. Took seven appts. to get tile installed and then repaired. Got new swamp cooler installed on 2nd story tile roof and company threw old panels down breaking tiles (never repaired), eight days to get cable, 5 days to get phone repaired, still dont' have roofer for flat roof on separate office bldg in back of house.
Countless morning appts. that turned into afternoon appts.

Neighbor put down deposit for addition and they showed up about three weeks after initial start date.

Another neighbor had tile installed (awful job) and then paid someone else to rip up and redo.

Realtor told me it took about five months to get his house windows done right. Said must play the waiting game and try to be nice. Eventually gets done. Is there something wrong with this picture and examples. Why do we allow this? One neighbor says if they show up late first day, they are out of there - gone. No second chances. Something to think about!!!!

Could be worst, friend had a three story house built and basement floods.

PLEASE, tell me your tales!!!:

I live in Rio Rancho too and I noticed people take forever to show up and get stuff done. One example-I called the cable company to fix my cable and they said they would send someone out that day and I've never heard from them since,so Im gonna cancel my cable when the contract is up.

I think it has a lot to do with NEW MEXICO Not to be mean, but I used to live in Albuquerque and I feel like that slowness and lack of commitment is just part of the local culture. Moving from NM back to MN was like a shock, here everything is done much more efficiently and in a much more organized manner. Don't get me wrong, I love NEW MEXICO and visit it frequently, but the people can be a little too laid back and very unorganized
