And no offense, but you should really be visiting some cities. Anybody can say all the **** they want about whatever city, you might think whatever you want about whatever city, but until you visit them if you haven't spent a good time in them already...it means nothing. On paper, I would love parts of Buffalo for example, but it turns out I ****ing hate the city.

Heheh..I knew Id' be takin' a hit from you mar once I poo-poo'd Chi-town.

Heh, man, just 'cause Chi is not it, doesn't mean Idaho or Wyoming and a populace of 150,00. You skip a plethora of mid-sized cities when you do that.

Chi is right behind LA and NY in major cities along with Houston. I dare say there's many "steps down" from the global cities outside of Helena MT.

And in the interest of being practical, I'm just going to research, make a choice, and go stick it out on a lease for a year. I can always relocate if it doesn't mesh, and I'll still have the experience to boot.

I just don't see a nation-wide tour of cities as the answer at this point when some diligent legwork should point me in the right direction.

Peace.

Miami's out for sure; maybe somewhere in the rest of Florida...I've got cousins in North Florida who are good ol' boys and all about hunting and working on their cars but that area is probably too redneck for the OP or something...
Instead of just popping idle shyte, if you don't want to contribute, you can just chill back and keep that noise down. Don't be a troll.

Seems like the OP is kind of very, very picky and kind of sounding somewhat unrealistic. There's a lot of places they could be, but it seems like there's always a problem with any of these places. I still think Chicago would be good for him in some places, but apparently he thinks there's too many flavors there which is..well...not true of some neighborhoods at all.

You need to chill out bro and stop takin' it personal I didn't pounce on your recommendation for Chicago. You're all cool until that, and now you troll?

Just leave the thread and don't look back man. I don't need this in here.

It's one thing to be on a message board to help or ask for help, it's another to spend on e's time just trying to detract from someone else and criticize.

I just mentioned a few other cities and places you said you weren't interested in to keep the discussion going... There was no real trolling on my part. Don't be so frickin' sensitive...

Sharks, I am about as liberal left as you can get but I am not an insufferable hipster vegan type. I feel much more comfortable with a blue collar old union guy that is practically socialist then a typical liberal elitist clown.

The problem in this country is that a lot of these older traditional types before the boomer generation were largely Democrats, socialists and old school progressive union types. Now their children seem to be right wing reactionary because the only populist anti-establishment politics seems to couched in right wing ideology.

The hipster vegan environmentalist and his insufferable attitude toward others is the result of a broken left wing movement and fragmented into a bunch of token issues and turned into lifestylism.

Chicago will be very much like Philly, and not much like SF or LA in terms of what you are looking for.

Hell, why don't you just move to Shreveport, Louisiana. If you're not manly enough before you move there, you'll have some hair on your chest in six months.

Good intel man. Thank you.
I'm not a man - I'm one of those "persnickity" middle age women. And a gay freindly liberalitarian to boot. But i'm not out to get you.

I think Kansas City is a good suggestion. What is more manly than chowing down on a big steak?

What about Omaha? It's mid-sized. When my brother and I visited there we got called f*****t from a car window. I usually use this as a litmus test of a place not being gay friendly. Oh, and we were wearing rolled cut-offs (not because we're douchebags, but because it's the cheapest way to make shorts) so it might not be that hipster friendly either. Could be a good option.
