After debate on another thread, I figured it'd be appropriate to make a thread on the topic. Often, many metro areas don't really offer many unique places outside of their CBD that other US cities don't also have. So what are some cool areas outside of your cities core that might be considered unique?

Nob Hill and the UNM area along Central Ave is actually far better and a lot more vibrant than anything downtown Albuquerque has to offer.

La Brea Tar Pits, Venice Beach, Paramount Studios are a few things I think are pretty unique to LA ans are far outside the CBD.

Frenchman St in downtown New Orleans, French Quarter, and Uptown New Orleans (mainly Magazine St). Uptown Houston has good upscale shopping and dining.
