Another thread got me thinking about wealthy enclaves situated on islands... there's Fisher Island, FL, off the coast at Miami, by some measures the wealthiest suburb in the US... of course there's a lot of money in the NY area that's located on islands... I'd imagine that LA (Catalina) and Seattle (Puget Sound) have some wealthy island neighborhoods- we have a little island here in the middle of a bayou with some fancy houses on it (Park Island)-so how about your city? Lots of people dream of getting rich and then moving to an island- where have people actually done so?
And yes, I do realize Hawaii kind of wins, by default.

Well, yes. It does. I meant to cover that by my statement about NY.

Actually, Seattleites for the most part treat our many islands as vacation destinations... a lot of people live in Seattle and its suburbs but have a vacation "cabin" on one of the islands. Exceptions are Bainbridge Island and Vashon Island, which many people commute to Seattle from, and which are treated more like the nice suburbs east of Seattle. But they're not tiny islands that exist only as rich enclaves like Fisher Island.

Sea Island, GA is about as exclusive as it gets. You have to cross two causeways to get there from the mainland, and then unless you are a guest of the hotel, a member of the club or have permission of a resident you are denied access. Home prices start at a little over 2M and top out at about 12M.
