It's funny how no one has mentioned NYC on this thread. For the average visitor, it is a great weekend trip but it has huge sections and areas that are comparable to the third-world. Sections of it's boroughs and even Manhatten could use a great deal of reviving. We forget that beyond all of the glamour of the city skyline and things to do, there are areas that are hell-holes, unbefitting America's largest city.
