We've seen a ton of threads on the most southern or the most authentic southern state in the US....Which of the southern states is the least culturally southern?

Florida. Virginia is probably second.

I agree with above. Florida has a lot of tourists and retirees from outside the state. Also its beach culture is not typically "southern." Northern virginia and the DC suburbs are no different from the surburbs around any northeastern city. Richmond is also emerging as one of the "hipster" cities of the south along with to Austin and Nashville.

Florida and Virginia. Those two states have seen such a transplant influx their Southernness is very diluted.

As for Texas, only the western part of the state isn't Southern.

Definitely Florida, more specifically the southern part of the state. The panhandle is quite southern.

The question really depends upon how the South is defined ala' the question. That is, does it mean the 11 Old Confederate States? Does it mean the Census Bureau definition -- which is the broadest -- today? Would it include Missouri which was counted as "Southern" for quite a while in historical definitions when referring to "slave-states."

Interesting question, but the OP will have to define it as to original intent.
