Ok, by friendly, I don't mean the type who are generally really nice and polite but being very uptight and worrying about 1001 things in their heads at once. I don't mean the ones who are generally cold and reserved and boring.

By friendly I mean the ones that are loud, spontaneous, joke around a lot, they are generally relaxed too. Also it would be really good to have it be place that has some diversity in ethnicities and nationalities. Have it be a midsized town, like at least 45,000 or more.

New Jersey - minus the relaxed part. Seriously, people here are loud, speak our minds (good or bad - however you view it), we love kidding around, but we will give you the shirt off our backs. We're generous, good people. What we aren't is all that relaxed but hey, if you had tax rates and traffic like we do you wouldn't be relaxed either.

Hopefully people here will be able to know the difference between "Friendly" and "Polite", because to me there is a big difference between being friendly and just being polite.

I have been to forty of the fifty states and can say unequivocally that Jersey folks are by far the friendliest, realest, most passionate people. There is a magic about them not found anywhere else in the country.

If only people knew the truth about NJ folks and could look beyond the rough exteriors..

It really is.
NY gregariously welcomes these people, who suddenly turn into Douchebags as soon as they find an apartment or loft in Brooklyn or Manhattan.
