I'm aware that our country is at a crossroads, a time of extremism, hate and division. I'm wondering if there are any smaller cities or towns that are close-knit, with a healthy balance between conservative and liberal viewpoints, and not too bad of a drug problem? I'm thinking about places with a strong sense of community that aren't profoundly leftist or Trump town. If there actually are such places in 2020 USA, do any of them have scenic backdrops and a fair amount of sunshine throughout most of the year?
Charleston, SC
Charleston WV (more conservative than liberal but liberals still tolerated)
Savannah
Colorado Springs (moderately conservative and very civil)
Colorado Springs has been of some interest. Not sure about it though, hence my search for more options. It can be a smaller city or town, as long as it has a strong sense of community and is psychologically healthy and tolerant.

Then go just a short ways south to Pueblo. Unlike Colorado Springs, it just barely went for Trump.
-Huntsville, AL
-Baton Rouge, LA
-Columbus, IN (Not the best scenery, but it is in a hilly part of IN)
-Rochester, MN (left leaning, but nowhere near Minneapolis level of liberalism. Does poorly on the scenic department)
-Sarasota, FL
-The Treasure and Space Coasts of FL
-Jacksonville, FL
-Greensboro, NC (slightly conservative leaning, but nothing like it used to be back in the '80s-'90s)
-Roanoke, VA (see Greensboro)
-Boise, ID (trending lefter, but nowhere near as left as on the coast)
-Frederick, MD
-Inner Oklahoma City (too bad the state is still deep red like AL)
-Bakersfield, CA
Roanoke, VA
Greensboro, NC
Greenville, SC
Fayetteville, AR
Knoxville, TN
Chattanooga, TN
Colorado Springs, CO
Boise, ID
These seem to have a nice balance. There are others I'm sure, but these I'm more familiar with. Me personally, if I was going to "lean", it would be right. Their costs of living tend to stay in check over time, they're more live and let live, and they don't have the social/political unrest that more left-leaning areas have.
