Believe it or not KFC was actually founded in Utah. With that said I think the goal of this list was to list companies founded and still headquartered in that current state. Also how it is present in our Pop-Culture. Starbucks definitely is not the most important company in Seattle, but since Seattle is the Coffee capital, people know Seattle for Starbucks. Honestly the average america may not even know Costco, Boeing, or Microsoft were founded in Seattle.

Then they failed. Saks for Alabama? Founded in NYC, currently headquartered in NYC. Only connection to Bama is a holding company for a few years. That holding company may have been founded in AL, but it is beside the point that Saks = NY, not AL.
I know. Now Oreos and all Nabisco products are owned by the French company Mondelez. Quite a few of the trademarks on the OP's map might be just American subsidiaries of corporations in other parts of the world. Like Garmin (Swiss)
Nope again. Mondelez isn't French. It's an American company and it isn't even a year old. And Garmin may be incorporated in Switzerland, but it was founded in the US and its operations are still mostly run out of the US. The name "Garmin" is a contraction of the names of the founders of the company (which they started in Kansas.)

Not true. Utah was the location of the first KFC franchise. The origin of the brand and the restaurant is indeed Kentucky and it is a part of YUM! Brands of Louisville.
What's Yuengling says the west coast guy. We all know Rolling Rock is swill, because they sell it here and advertise the stuff from time to time. Latrobe, 33, cucumber water; Rolling Rock is by far the bigger brand.
...and Rolling Rock isn't even brewed in Pennsylvania anymore.
the Latrobe Brewing Company is now a contract brewer for various brands
South Dakota should be CitiBank. SD, due to their banking laws, has $2.5 trillon of the assets of US banks. There is a South Dakota phone number (605) on the back of my Citi-card, to call for trouble.
Though Super 8 was founded in Aberdeen, it was sold out years ago and is now headquartered in New Jersey. Citibank's credit card division of course is the only thing in SD.
The most recognizable brand in SD that is HEADQUARTERED here I believe would be Daktronics, which is the leader in manufacturing scoreboards nationally. This would probably be followed (disgustingly) by Sanford Health Systems.
